The electrochemical polymerization of eight catechol-amine polymers has been carried out in monophasic system using 1.8% zinc chloride as electrolyte at a fixed current of 300 m A and potential 0.4 V Vs SCE in acetone, DMF or ether solvants. The IR spectra of the polymers, the viscosity measurments and average molecular weights were recorded. Molecular formulae for the electrochemically synthesized copolymers were suggested. Effect of time, of electrolyte concentration, of current and of catechol concentration of the rate of polymerization were also studied.
