The laser Raman (50-4000 cm-1) and i. r. (200-4000 cm-1) spectra of 2,6-dichloro-4-nitroaniline(2, 6, 4 DCNA) have been recorded and analysed. The Raman spectrum was analysed in CS2 solution while i. r. was recorded in KBr matrix. The electronic spectra of 2,6-4-DCNA has also been recorded in various solvents. The bands obtained are discussed assuming the molecule under C2v symmetry groups. The group sensitive fundamentals are compared with those of similar molecules already reported in the literature.
