The reaction of some acylhydrazines, arylhydrazines as well as thiosemicarbazide with two heterocyclic aldehydes namely, 3-acetyl or (3-ethoxycarbonyl)-2-methyl-5-pyrrolecarboxaldehyde were investigated. Oxidative cyclization of the prepared acylhydrazones with iodine and yellow mercuric oxide gave mercuric complexes. The structures were confirmed by IR,UV, H-NMR and mass spectra.
