2-Aryl-4 (N-acetyloxindolylidene) Oxazolin-5 -Ones / reacts with o-phenylenediamine in boiling ethanol to give 2 which cyclised on treatment with acetic acid and sodium acetate mixture to give 3, however fusion of 1 with o-phenylenediamine in presence of sodium acetate furnished 4 which cyclised to give 5. Anthranilic acid reacts with 1 in acetic acid to give 6, however it reacts with catalytic acetic acid to give 7. The products were characterized by microanalytical and spectral data.
