The influence of different alkyl and aryl substituents in the available positions of Δ3- thiazoline ring, on the biological activity was investigated. Thus, 12 Δ3- thiazolines, with different alkyl or aryl substitutions were prepared by the reaction of elementary sulphur ammonia gas and ketones. Another three thiazolines, with different aryl substitutions in one position of the molecule, were prepared by the reaction of ∝ - mercapto pentanone-3, ammonia and aromatic aldhydes. The toxicities of the prepared compounds towards eleven species of bacteria and three species of Fungi and yeast* were screened. The minimum inhibitory concentrations (m. i. c) of the tested samples were determined in ∝ /ml. General relationships between the molecular structure and the biological activity of these compounds were outlined.
