A kinetic study of DL-Alanine by potassium permanganate in sulphuric acid medium was studied. The reaction was found to be first order with respect to both, substrate and oxidant. The energy and entropy of activations of the reaction have been found to be 17.32 K. Cal mol-1 and -23.72 e. u. respectively. A plausible mechanism consistent with the experimental results has been proposed.
