Commercially available wood of Shorea robusta (Sal) was analysed for the determination of its ingredients. A comparative study for the availability of the sal wood has been made. The chemical analysis of Shorea robusta (Sal) has been recorded from the samples of the wood collected from different regions of Madhya Pradesh, Orissa and Andhra Pradesh. The chemical analysis reveals that the sal wood contains low ash content than bamboo. Solubility and other non polysaccharide contents have been recorded in the table.
