A series of new substituted phenyl azocoumarins and Schiff’s bases have been synthesized by the condensation of synthesized substituted phenyl azosalicylaldehydes and newly synthesized malon anilic acid with pyridine as a catalyst. The prepared compounds were characterized by elemental analyses, colour, thermal stability and IR spectra. Assignments of IR spectral bands have been made,
