The experimental values of the ionic percentage of the alkali-halide bonds in the vapour phase, do not agree well with the celebrated pauling formula. A new formula has therefore, been proposed here which is in better agreement with the data. However, fits to some of the fluorides and some of the iodides might be further improved by introducting small modifications.
