Ternary complexes of Co (II) and Ni (II) containing a-alanine and nucleic acid constituents viz., adenine, cytosine, adenosine, guanosine and cytidine were synthesised and characterised using elemental analysis, magnetic momentum, IR, UV, 1HNMR and EPR spectral data. The complexes formed were tetrahedral 3d spin free complexes of Co (II) and square planar LMCT transaction complexes of Ni (II).
