Some fluorine containing s-triazine based chalcones have been synthesized starting from ketone III and different aldehydes. These chalcones further on cyclocondensation with phenylhydrazine hydrochloride and thiourea give pyrazolines and pyrimidinethiones respectively. The structure of the synthesized compounds have been confirmed on the basis of elemental analysis, IR and NMR spectral studies. The synthesized compounds have been subjected to antibacterial screening. The minimal inhibitory concentration values indicate that some of these compounds exhibit good activity against bacteria.
