Environmental studies were carried out on industrial effluents, to find out the physico-chemical, toxicological and bacteriological parameters and presence of heavy metals. This paper assesses the existing status of industrial effluents in industrial areas from East Delhi to Ghaziabad (Sahibabad). The effluent was analysed for various parameters and heavy metals and the result werer compared with standardisation limit of WHO, and BIS. The data were subjected to factor analysis to determine source contribution. The study reveals that the quality of industrial effluent discharged by their treatment plant is below the desired level. It is recommended that discharges of effluent require high degree of treatment before their discharge
