Coccinioside-K, Triterpenoid Saponin from Coccinia Indica

Coccinia indica W. and A., (Cucurbitaceae) known as kanduri in Hindi. We report here a new saponin from its roots. The n-butanol extract of the ethanolic extract upon repeated chromatography purification afforded a new triterpenoid, saponin C41H66O12 m.p. 245-247°, which we named COCCINIOSIDE-K.
