The interactions of Fe (III), Cr (III) and Al(lll) metal ions with 6 - ethyl, 7 - hydroxy, 4-methyl coumarin (Ligand 1), 3-chloro, 7-h|rdroxy-4-methyl coumarin (Ligand 2) and 4,6-dimethyl, 7-hydroxy coumarin (Ligand 3) have been investigated by potentiometric technique at 0.1 M ionic strength and 28 ±0.1 °C in 70% dioxane-water mixture. The data obtained were used to estimate the values of proton-ligand stabillity constants (pK) and metal-ligand stability constants (log K). It is observed that Fe(lll), Cr(lll), Al(lll) metal ions forms 1:1 and 1:2 complexes with substituted coumarins.
