Characteristics of Industrial Waste Effluents from Tarapur Industrial Zone
B. H. Mehta* and A. J. Churi
Ground water samples collected at different locations in and around Tarapur Industrial Zona were analyzed for their physico-chemical characteristics. A wide variation in water quality parameters from sample to sample was observed. Most of the industrial waste discharged have high Biological Oxygen Demand and Chemical Oxygen Demand values. A statistical analysis has been earned out among the various water quality parameters. This analysis resulted in a significant linear relationship between few major water quality parameters. The experimental findings of physico-chemical characteristics were also used to suggest an appropriate treatment before discharging the waste effluents. It is recommended that discharges require very high degree of treatment before their recreational use.
