Abstract:
Potentiometric equilibrium measurements have been made at 25°C and I = 01 mol dm-3 (NaCIO4) for the interaction of Mn (II). Co (II), Ni(ll), Zn (II) and Cd (II) with alizarin maroon (azm) and 5-sulphosalicylic acid (ssa) in 1:1:1 molar ratio. The stability constants of the mixed-ligand complexes were determined in 20% (v/v) ethanol or dioxane-water medium. The values of ΔlogKM = (logKMM(azm) (azm) (ssa) " logKMM(ssa) arc Positive showing an a statistical increase in the values of mixed-ligand stability constants. For mono and biligand complexes, the complexation equilibria existing in solution were demonstrated and characterized. The reaction of Zn (I) with azm and ssa was examined spectrophotometrically and a sensitive method was developed for the determination of zinc as a ternary comple.
