Abstract
Ultrasonic Effect and Micellar Phenomena of Praseodymium and Neodymium Oleates
S. K. Upadhyaya
Abstract:
The ultrasonic velocity and density measurements of praseodymium and neodymium oleates in a mixture of 60% benzene and 40% methanol V/V were used to evaluate various acoustic and thermodynamic parameters and to determine the critical miceller concentration (CMC). The values of the CMC decreases with the increase in the size of the cation. The adiabitic compressibility , intermoleculer free length and solvation number decrease while the specific acoustic impedence, apparent molal compressibility, appearent molal volume and molar sound velocity increase with increasing soap concentration. The results have been interpreted in terms of soap-solvent interactions.
