Abstract:
The azo dyes, 1 ,4-bis(21-hydroxynaphthylazo) benzene and 1,4-bis(21 -hydroxy -51-methylphenylazo) benzene behave as doubly-bidentate ONNO donor ligand and form dinuclear complexes with divalent metal ions. All the fifteen complexes are amorphous in nature, have high melting points and are insoluble in common organic solvents. The Mn(ll), Fe(ll), Co(ll), Ni(ll) complexes are found to be octahedral, Cu(ll) complexes are distorted-octahedral and Zn(lI), Cd(II) and Hg(ll) complexes are suggested to be tetrahedral in configuration basing upon analytical, conductance, magnetic sussceptibility, i.r. electronic and 1H n.m.r spectral studies
