Abstract:
A few novel mixed ligand complexes of VO(l V) and Ti(lll) containing phthalimide as primary and 2- aminophenol and 3 - aminophenol as secondary ligands have been synthesised. They have been fomulated on the basis of elemental analysis and conductivity data and their structures confirmed by magnetic measurements and infraed and electonic spectral studies. The complexes have the general composition: K[M (L)2 (L')2] where M=VO(l V) andTi (IIl), L=anion of phthalimide L' = anion of 2 - aminophenol and 3 - aminophenol. Mola conductance values reveal that the oxovanadium complexes and the Ti (III) complex with 2 - aminophenol are 1:1 electrolyte in nature. Magnetic measurements and infrared and electronic spectral data speak in favour of the octahedral stereochemistry for the complexes.
