Abstract
Corrosion Inhibition of Mild Steel in Aqueous Sodium Chloride Solution by Gelatin
S. H. Khan* and S. J. Garg
Abstract:
Corrosion of mild steel in 1% NaCI has been studied by weight loss measurements. Corrosion mechanism Involved was studied by electrochemical methods. Corrosion inhibition was studied in presence of 0.01%, 0.05%. 0.1 % and 0.5% gelatin. It was observed that the rate of corrosion decreases and percentage inhibiton increases with increase in concentration of gelatin. With higher concentration of gelatin (0.5%), in long duration test (30 days), the percentage inhibition decreases. Electrochemical methods suggest that the inhibitor under consideration influences both the cathodic and the anodic process.
