Abstract

Spiro-(2H-indene-2,2,-oxirane)-1,3-dione (I) reacted with 2-arrtino-thiophenol and guanidine via addition elimination reaction to produce 2-{3-ary(5,6-b)benzo-1,4-thiazino]spiro-1,3-indandione and 2,6-[3-emino-5-aryl-1 -oxa-2,4-diazine]spiro-1,3-indanedBone II and III. respectively. Also compound I is added to various amines using different conditions to give 1,2,4-heptatriazine{5,6-b) indan-3-one-3,4-dihydro[1,2-d]pyrimidine-2-thioneindan-3-one and N-phenyl-3-arylpyrazolo[1,2-c]indan-3-one, V. VI and VII respectively. Also compound I is thiated with phosphorous pentasulphide to give 2-arylmethane-2-thiolindan-1,3-dithione IX.
