Abstract:

A soil pot experiment was conducted in facterial completely randomised block design in Kharif season (1997-98) at the agriculture farm of Bhopal sugar industries Ltd. Sehore to study the effect of Sugar industry effluents on productivity and nutrient uptake by soyabean crops. Effulent was diluted with demineralised water and treatment samples were prepared of 25%, 50 %, 75% and 100% effluent. The effluent is neutral in pH, rich in total dissolved solids and suspended solids. Germination studies were conducted in the laboratory to investigate the effect of effluent. The maximum growth was found under 25% concentration of effluent. The effluent when used at higher concentration elicited deleterious effects were experienced in the growth and yield of the soyabean crop, J.S.335 has given better performance over Punjab-1 and Durga.
