Abstract

A series of novel benzofuran analogs of fenamates were synthesized, where carboxylic acid functionality was modifieds to five membered heterocyclic ring. The structures of newly synthesized compounds were established by the ¹H-NMR, IR and elemental analyses data. All the new compounds were screened for anti-inflammatory activity by carrageenan induced rat paw edema method. Some of the compounds were found to possess good anti-inflammatory activity. Diclofenac sodium was used as standard.
