Abstract

New substituted chalcones namely 2¹-hydroxy-5¹-chloro-4-methoxy chalcone (Ia). 2¹-hydroxy-3-¹-nitro-5-¹-chloro-4-methoxy chalcone (1b) and 2¹-hydroxy-3¹-bromo-5¹-chloro-4-methoxy chalcone (1c) were synthesized starting from p-chlorophenol and anisaldehyde by literature method. The compounds (Ia-Ic) were reacted with hydroxylamine hydrochloride in pyridine medium to give new substituted isoxazolines (IIa-IIc) namely. 3(-2-hydroxy-5-chlorophenyl)-5-(4-methoxy phenyl) isoxazoline (IIa). 3(2-hydroxy-3-nitro-5-chlorophenyl)-5-(4-methoxy phenyl) isoxazoline (IIb) and 3(2-hydroxy-3-bromo-5-chlorophenyl)-5-(4-methoxy phenyl) ixoazoline (IIc). The identities of these new compounds were established on the basis of usual chemical transformation and IR.NMR spectral analysis.
