Abstract:
The mixed ligand complexes of b-picoline (b-pico), glycollate (gly-1) and lactate (lact-1) with Cd(II) have been studied polarographically at constant ionic strength, μ = 1.5 M (NaNO3) and pH 5.95 at 25 ± 0.1°C. The reduction of the complexes at d.m.e. is reversible and diffusion controlled. Three mixed complexes [Cd(b-pico) (gly)1+], [Cd(b-pico) (gly)2] and [Cd(b-pico)2 (gly)]1+ are formed in Cd(II) b-picoline-glycollate system with the stability constants log b11 = 2.320, log b12 = 2.806 and log b21 = 3.822. Three mixed complexes [Cd(lact) (b-pico)]1+, [Cd(lact) (b-pico)2]1+ and [Cd(lact)2 (b-pico) are formed in Cd-lactate-b-picoline system and their stability constants are : log b11 = 2.628, log b12 = 3.602 and log b21 = 3.625.
