Abstract
Heritable Genetic Variation for Qualitative Mineral Traits in Kodo-Millet
A. N. Tikle* and K. S. Pawar
Abstract:
Thirty-six diverse land races of kodo millet were tested at two locations for the estimates of genetic parameters for quality traits. Significant genetic variability and presence of genotype-environment interactions were recorded for protein, carbohydrates, copper, zinc, iron and manganese. Comparatively high estimates of genotypic coefficient of variation, heritability and genetic advance were recorded for Fe, Cu, Zn and Mn. Hence, direct selection based on these characters would be more effective in kodo-millet.
