Synthesis of N, -[ substituted 1,3-benzoxazin*2,4-dione-3-yl ]-3-methyl-pyrazol-5-ones Va-f have been reported. 6-Halogen substituted 1,3-benzoxazin-2, 4-diones (Ia-b) were prepared by the reaction of 5-halogen substituted salicylamide with ethyl chloroformate followed by the refluction with acetyl chloride. These when condensed further with ethyl chloroformate, ethyl chloro acetate and chloroacetyl chloride formed corresponding Hp-substituted corbocthoxy derivatives lla-f. The reaction of Ila-f with hydrazine hydrate yielded hydrazides (IIIa-f). These when reao ted with acetoaceticester in dioxane formed compounds (IVa-f) followed by cyclization in refluxing O-dichlorobenzene yielded Ni-substituted pyrazoles (Va-f). The structures of these compounds were confirmed by IR, NMR and elemental analysis.
