Abstract:

The interaction of UO2 (II), with 1- Carboxamido-3-(2-Hydroxy-5-methlphenyl)-5-(4-methoxyphenl)- Δ2-pyrazoline,(Ligand-1), 1-Carboxamido-3-(2-Hydroxy-3-bromo-5-methylphenyl)-5-(4-methoxyphenyl)- Δ2-pyrazoline (Ligand-2), and 1- Carboxamido-3-(2-Hydroxy-5-methlphenyl)-5-phenyl pyrazole (Ligand-3), has been studied at 0.1M, 0.08M, 0.06M, 0.04M and 0.02M ionic strength. Proton-Ligand and metal ligand stability constants have been determined by Bjerrum method as adopted by Calvin and Wilson. The data of pK and LogK values obtained from this technique were used to calculate the thermodynamics dissociation constants at zero Ionic strength and to know the exact nature of reaction complex equilibria. Further these ligands and their complexes with UO2 (II) were subjected to antimicrobial test against E.coli. S. typhi, A. aarogenes, P. vulgaris, Ps. aeruginosa, & aureus. The complex form of ligand seemed to possess greater antimicrobial activity then their compounds.
