Abstract:
Pyrazoline was suspended in DMSO and a crystal of Iodine added to it. The mixture was refluxed for 1hr, cooled, diluted with water, the solid obtained was filtered, washed with 20% aqueous sodium thiosulphate and crystallised from ethanol to get pyrazoles. The same reaction was carried out in DMSO-I -H SO system affords pyrazoles.
