Abstract:
In this work, we describe the coordination behaviour of 4[N-(pyridine-2-carbxalidene)amino]antipyrine semicarbazone (PCAAPS) in presence of oxygen donor ligand such as dimethyl sulphoxide towards Th4+. The mixed ligand complex have the general composition ThX4.2(PCAAPS).DMSO (X= Cl, Br, I, NCS or ClO4) and Th(NO3)4(PCAAPS).DMO. All the coordination compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, molecular weight determination conductivity, spectral and thermal studies. In these compounds, the primary ligand (PCAAPS) behaves as neutral tridentate (N, N, O) ligand, while the secondary ligand (DMSO) acts as unidentate oxygen donor. The central metal ion displays coordination 7, 9, 11 and 12 in these compounds depending on the nature of anionic ligand.
