Abstract:
Several novel complexes were isolated from the reaction of lanthanide ions with the solutions of a tridenate ONS Schiff base of S-benzyldithiocarbazate (SBDTC) with salicylaldehyde. The complexes have the compositions, [La(ONS)NO32H2O], [Ce(ONS)(NO3)2] and [Th(ONS)2]. The metal complexes were found to have very weak activity against colon cancer cells with CD50 values of 27.5, 28.4 and 19.3μg cm-3. The La(III) metal complex was found to be moderately active against leukemic cells with a CD50 value of 6.8μcm-3.
