Conventional paints and varnishes consume lot of organic solvents. Effort is in progress to develop water dispersed polymers which can be used as such or converted into paints compositions. Such compositions can be applied by conventional methods but still better quality of finish is obtained if they are electrocoated. This paper describes the electrocoating compositions developed by the authors based on epoxy resins and polyamide curing agents using external emulsifiers of cationic, anionic and non-ionic types.
