Vanadyl complexes with schiff bases of 2-hydroxy-1 -naphthaldehyde and aryl amines have prepared and characterised. The ESR spectra the complexes were recorded at room temperature and at liquid nitrogen temperature, by the method of Knebuhl, Sands and Gerroer using a small polycrystalline sample of tetracyanoethylene (TCNE), free radical as a 'g' marker. From the spectra, the values g I I (parallel), g ⊥ (perpendicular), A I I (parallel), A ⊥ (perpendicular) and |g| and |A| warn obtained. The expression hυ = g βH was used for evaluating the g' values. Due to large tumbling of the molecules in solution at room temperature the anisotropy is not observed but It is clearly visible at LNT. 'g' is a function Indicating covalency and therefore an order of cavaiency in the Vanadyl complexes has been reported.
