1 -Arylformamidino-1 -(2-Pyridyl/2-thiazolyI) thiocarbamide hydrochlorides have been synthesized and screened for their local anaesthetic and antifungal activity. Compound 1-(Phenylformamidino) -1 -(2-pyridyI) thiocarbamide hydrochloride was high potent local anaesthetic. In the antifungal testing there was complete inhibition of growth of Altemaria alternata and Curvuiaria lunata at 0.025 gm/100 ml concentration by 1-(Phenyl formamidino)-1-(2-Pyridyl) thiocarbamide hydrochloride and encouraging results were obtained with other compounds. These compounds have also been oxidised to five 4-(2-pyridyl)- 3-aryl -imino-5-imino 1,2,4-thiadiazolidines.
