Polymetallic Complexes : Part - XXXVIII Complexes of Co(Il), Ni(Il), Cu(Il), Zn(Il), Cd(Il) and Hg(II) With Tetradentate Formazan Ligands.

The tetradentate formazans, 1-phenyl-3 (2'-hydroxyphenyl)- (p-toly)- formazan [L H] and 1 -phenyl -3 (2'-hydroxyphenyl)-5- (p-sulphonicphenyl) formazan [L'H] form dimeric complexes of the type [M2 L/LCI3 (H2O)5] and [M2 L/LCI3 (H2O)] where M m Co(ll), Ni(ll) Cu(II); M' = Zn(ll), Cd (ll), Hg (II). The complexes of the former category are six coordinated with an octahedral or distorted octahedral configuration and the complexes of the latter type are suggested to be four-coordinated with a tetrahedral stereochemistry around the metal ions. The characterisation of the complexes are made basing upon analytical, conductance, magnetic susceptibility, ir, electronic spectra apart from NMR and ESR spectral data.
