The formation of chromium (lll)-EDTA complex from mono (oxalate) tetraaquo chromium (III) and EDTA has been investigated spectrophotometrically. The reaction was found to be first order with respect to oxalate complex concentration. The reaction proceeds in two paths i.e., EDTA dependent and EDTA independent. Based on the experimental observations a mechanism is proposed for tee reaction.
