The extraction of chromium (III) from aqueous mineral acid solutions by Di-(2-ethyIhexyl) Phosphoric acid in benzene has been studied. The extractions are nearly quantitative with all the acid systems studied (~99.94%). The effect of various parameters on the extraction of chromium (III) such as time of equilibration, pH, concentration of the metal ion, the extractant, diluent, and the added anions has been investigated on the basis of the results obtained the possible extraction mechanism is suggested.
