Conventional paints and varnishes consume lot of organic solvants. An effort is being made to eliminate or reduce use of costly organic solvents. Work is in progress to develop water dispersed polymer solutions which can be used as such or converted into paint compositions. Such compositions can be applied by conventional methods, but still better quality of finish is obtained if they are electro-coated. This paper describes the electrocoating composition developed by the author based on drying oils, and alkyd resins in which no external emulsifier is used and which can be deposited on anode.
