TLC and HPLC techniques have been used for the separation of Cr(III), Mn(III) Fe(III) and Co(III) as their 5-Chloro-2.3 -dihydroxypyridine complexes, TLC has been carried out on silica gel plate with acetonitrile and methanol alone and acetonitrile : methanol (1:1) solvent mixture aseluents, Rf values of these metal complexes are in the order Cr<Mn<Fe<Co. Reversed phase HPLC has been carried cut in acetonitrile; methanol: water eluent showing the order of separation Cr> Mn> Fe>Co.
