Electrochemical reduction behaviour of chlordiazepoxide hydrochlroide has been studied by employing the advanced electrochemical techniques such as d. c. polarography, cyclic voltammetry, a. c polarography, differential pulse polarography, millicoulometry and controlled potential electrolysis in the supporting electrolytes of pH ranging from 2.0 to 12.0. Kinetic parameters such as diffusion coefficient (D), forward rate constant (K°f, h) values are evaluated and the reduction mechanism is proposed on the basis of the results obtained. A differential pulse pola-rographic method is developed for the quantitative determination of chlordiazepoxide hydlride in pharmaceutical formulations.
