Eight isomers of the N-methylated 2,2*-; 2.3-; 2,4' and 4,4*-bipyridylium salts have been synthesized and characterized, using elemental analyses, 1H N.M.R and melting points, In order to help in confirming the structures of these isomers, four of their deutero derivatives have been also synthesized and fully characterized.
