Phytochemical Studies of the Seeds of Jatropa Curcas Linn

Phytosterols fixed oils and fats, alkaloidss, glycosides, 11 proteins and 12 free amino acids were isolated from the seeds of Jatropa curcas by successive solvent extraction method. Proteins and oils were tested for toxicity, purgative and weight gain action; The oil was non toxic, non-purgative with high protein content, can be utilized as highly nutritive poultry and cattle feed.
