Parkia biglandulosa, Wright and Arn is an ornamental tree which belongs to the family Legu-minosae. The carbohydrates from the seed bran of the plant have been investigated qualitatively and quantitatively by the help of chromatographic and colorimetric techniques. The total sugars (4.84%) have been found to contain galactose and glucose in the molar ratio 1:2, white free sugar (2.1%) has been identified as glucose. The reducing sugar has been estimated as 2.93%.
