Infrared and Laser Raman Spectra of Some Mixed Tetrahalo Methanes

The Infrared and Laser Raman Spectra of CFBr3 and CBr Cl3 have been recorded in the range 200-4000 cm-1. The frequency assignments have been made on the basis of C3v symmetry and the general quadratic valence force constants have been determined. The validity of the present assignment has been tested by evaluating the other molecular constants like the mean amplitudes, centrifugal distortion constants. Such a systematic study is available for the first time.
