ABSTRACT:

Some Egyptian clays samples from different localities were characterized by using x-ray diffraction and thermal analysis. The major clay minerals were identified and it was found that the potassium capacity is highest for montmorillonitic clays and minimum for kaolinitic ones. Natural zeolite was used as a reference for comparison.
