3-Hydroxy-3-Phenyl-1-O-Carboxyphenyl Triazene in Spectrophotometric Determination of Cobalt

With 3-hydroxy-3-phenyI-1 -o-carboxy phenyl triazene, cobalt forms a 1:1 (Co : R) yellow complex. The extinction of the cobalt it measured at 415 nm at pH 6.0-6.5. Molar absorptivity of the complex is 16,000 and Sandell's sensitivity is 0.00378 μg cm-2. Stability constant, log β= 5.638; Free energy of formation is - 7.548 K. Cal/Mole. Interference due to several ions have been discussed.
