The polarographical electroreduction of sodium nitroprusside (SNP) in O. IM NaF, KCI, KBr. Na2SO4 and Na2SO3 showed three reduction waves. On the other hand two waves are obtained on using O IM Nal and Na2S2O3 solutions. The three reduction waves in the former case are due to the formation of [ Fe (CN)5NO ]2- [ Fe (CN)5NO ]4 and [ Fe (CN)5NO]2 ions respectively. The two waves in the latter case are also discussed.
