The mechanism of uptake of nicotine and nicotinamide by Dowex 50W X 8 (- 20, +50) resion in H+ form from 2.50x 10-3M sulfuric acid medium has been studied. The mechanism of uptake of nicotine takes place through particle diffusion and chemical reaction at the sites of the resin particle, both contributing equally at later part of the uptake. Observations suggest that both particle diffusion and chemical reaction contribute to the uptake of nicotinamide also but neither controls the uptake entirely by itself in any part of the process.
