Chronic treatment of male rats with bromocriptine (B) 20 mg kg-1I. P. for 6 weeks significantly increased the concentration of free glutamic acid, glycine taurine and aspartic acid in the testis (P<0.01. n=8). Co-adminitration of sulpiride with B significantly suppressed B- induced increases in the 4 amino acids (aas) It was concluded that the stimulant effect of B was due to activation of dopamine D2 receptors. B-induced increase in the above (aas) may contribute to the reported beneficial actions of the compound observed in infertile males.
