Fe (III) and Co (II) complexes of physiologically active 8-acetyl-4-methyl umbelliferone (AMU) and its azomethine derivatives, namely the oxime (AMUO), hydrazone (AMUH) and thiosemi carbazone (AMUT) have been synthesized, They have been characterized on the basis of elemental analysis, thermogravimetric analysis, infrared and electronic spectra and magnetic moments. The observations show that AMU is a monobasic 00 donor, AMUO and AMUH are monobasic ON donors and AMUT Is a dibasic ONSO donor. AMUT undergoes enolisation during the complex formation and forms polymeric complexes. The participation of lactone carbonyl in coordination is a notable feature in AMUT complexes. All the complexes possess Octahedral geometry .
